CATAPULT
CATAPULT is a new scheme established to develop the professional dance, theatre and movement community within Herefordshire, from the company’s base at the Centre for Movement, providing free training and skills development alongside access to subsidised rehearsal and performance space for local professional and community artists, who we do not already have a relationship with.
When we established the Centre for Movement in January 2020, we wanted the space to be for our Company of dancers, but also somewhere we could share with others. From professional theatre companies, contemporary dance groups, circus performers, public and community well-being artists and educators, Herefordshire has a small but developing artists’ network.
We appreciate that performance artists need affordable, accessible spaces to train and rehearse and collaborate with appropriate, specific facilities in place. Thats why we have decided to launch CATAPULT a new space exchange scheme for artists, movers and shakers.
Space
The ability to book spaces at an affordable rate, to practice, train and perform are limited. Artists and companies often need to use a space for a few days or even weeks at a time. We want to share our resource and encourage others to share their creative skills in return. Through the catapult programme we will offer the following:
8 hours of free training for 3 individual artists
40 hours of free training space for one company to rehearse, collaborate or perform a new piece
The Exchange
In exchange for this free space, artists will be asked to give back their time and share their skills with the wider participation or artistic community by hosting a masterclass or workshop.
Alongside this all artists involved in the programme and the wider professional community will be invited to attend a series of masterclasses delivered by 2Faced Dance Company.
